League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area: 85 Years of Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy

For 85 years, the League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area (LWVSA) has dedicated itself to empowering voters and defending democracy. Today, the mission continues and we are inviting you to join in 85 Days of Action.

How You Can Participate in 85 Days of Action

  • Oct 1: Volunteer with Community Outreach to engage voters and families in voter registration and information.
  • Oct 2: Remind a newcomer to our county to register to vote by Oct. 6
  • Oct 3: Watch Bexar County Votes on KLRN to hear three different viewpoints about the County propositions on the November ballot.
  • Oct 4: Read the LWVSA Voters Guide- available online and in public libraries- to learn about Bexar County’s propositions and the amendments to the Texas Constitution on the November ballot.
  • Oct 5: Confirm your voter registration. Tomorrow is the deadline to register or make changes. Check your voter registration.
  • Oct 6: It’s National Voter Education Week- make your plan to vote in the upcoming election.
  • Oct 7: Continue National Voter Education Week- review and learn about the voting process in Texas here.
  • Oct 8: Register to march with LWVSA at the No Kings 2 march on Oct 18.
  • Oct 9: Share your “Why I Vote” story on social media and tag us with #LWVSA85.
  • Oct 10: Login to VOTE411.org to view and print your sample ballot.
  • Oct 11: Nominate an election hero in honor of the upcoming Election Heroes Day on November 3. Submit their story here.
  • Oct 12: Gather friends to make signs for the No Kings 2 march. Find suggested nonpartisan messages about protecting voting rights at LWVSA.
  • Oct 13: Invite a high school or college student to submit their artistic or written-word entry in the 2025 Youth Contest for a chance to win a cash scholarship. Entry deadline is Oct. 31.
  • Oct 14: Donate to support the work of LWVSA: Empowering Voters & Defending Democracy.
  • Oct 15: Remind your friends and family that applications for a ballot by mail must be received (not postmarked) by Oct. 24.
  • Oct 16: Sign up for election reminders from LWVSA.
  • Oct 17: Share an LWVSA post on your social media to help educate your network about the League’s work in the community.
  • Oct 18: Drop by Sit and Sip with ME Coffee House to Get to Know the League. Join us for a cup of coffee and a chat about the work LWVSA is doing in your community.
  • Oct 18: March with LWVSA at the No Kings 2 March in support of Voting Rights.
  • Oct 19: Send reminders to your friends and family to vote during early voting, October 20-31.
  • Oct 20: VOTE. Early voting is Oct. 20 - Oct 31. Avoid the lines on election day and cast your vote today.
  • Oct 21: Attend Artocracy, a docent-led tour at San Antonio Museum of Art, focused on who has a voice in democracy and what it means to use that voice.
  • Oct 22: Follow LWVSA on Facebook.
  • Oct 23: Speak up! Learn who represents you and send them an email about the issues that matter most to you.
  • Oct 24: Have a conversation with someone who doesn’t vote, assuring them that their vote is safe and important.
  • Oct 25: Host a get together (virtual or in-person) where members use VOTE411 to walk through what’s on the ballot together.
  • Oct 26: Remind your high school or college student to submit their artistic or written word entry in the 2025 Youth Contest for a chance to win a cash scholarship. Entry deadline is Oct. 31.
  • Oct 27: Continue the legacy of Minnie Fisher Cunningham, one of Texas’ leaders of the suffragist movement. Join LWVSA.
  • Oct 28: Celebrate Vote Early Day by encouraging a family member, friend, coworker to cast their vote early.
  • Oct 29: Donate $85 in celebration of LWVSA’s 85th anniversary and to increase the impact of the 85 days of action.
  • Oct 30: Tell your members of Congress to protect the freedom to vote and support the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
  • Oct 31: LAST Day of Early Voting. Cast your vote today!
