About Youth Initiative

The League of Women Voters of the San Antonio Area launched the Youth Initiative in 2021 to promote civic engagement and encourage youth and young adults in Bexar County to participate in the election process.

Youth Initiative Goals

To promote higher levels of eligible young adult voter turnout in local, state, and federal elections through education, facilitation, and representation with their peers. Also, to similarly reach out to youth before their voting eligibility to encourage and prepare them to become lifetime voters.

Upcoming election information you need

May 4 Municipal Election


This election will include several school districts and municipalities, as well as a first-time countywide election for three members of the Bexar County Appraisal District. More details will be available closer to the election.


Election Day | Saturday, May 4

Early Voting | April 22 - April 30


Important Deadlines:

  • First day to apply for a ballot by mail: Monday, January 1
  • Last day to register to vote: Thursday, April 4
  • Last day for Elections Department to receive mail ballot application: Tuesday, April 23
  • Last day for Elections Department to receive mail ballot:
    • Saturday, May 4, 7:00 pm if not postmarked
    • Monday, May 6, 5:00 pm if postmarked locally by Saturday, May 4, 7:00 pm

Forms of ID needed to vote


Texas Driver License

When you vote in person in Texas, you must show one of the seven acceptable forms of photo ID. If you do not possess and cannot reasonably obtain one, you can fill out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and show a copy or original of a supporting form of ID from a list. Learn more about acceptable voter ID options from votetexas.gov.


NOTE: Student IDs are NOT accepted
